Hunt - Ride - Fish - Virginia Mountain Land For Sale
Searching for serenity and security? Fox Creek Falls is the only planned community located within the more than 120,000-acre Mount Rogers National Recreation Area - the largest National Recreation Area in the Eastern United States. Our community is surrounded on three sides by the Jefferson National Forest! At your doorstep is an amazing array of outdoor activities.
Hunting
White Tail deer. Bear. Wild turkey. Mountain grouse. Rabbit and squirrel. Migrating waterfowl. Grayson County is home to great hunting and Fox Creek Falls puts you right in the middle of some of the best wildlife habitat in Virginia. Fox Creek Falls is just footsteps from a hunter's paradise.
Horseback Riding
Fox Creek Falls is unmatched for trail access. The community adjoins an unmapped bridle trail linking the 400-mile National Recreation Area Trail System, including the more than 80 miles of the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. In open terrain on mountain crests at Grayson Highlands State Park, you're likely to encounter herds of wild ponies and native game.
Fishing
Is wetting a line your preference? Then grab your fly-fishing pole and head for our stocked trout stream -- Fox Creek. You'll be drawn from your porch by the sound and beauty of the nearby waterfalls. They're in the Jefferson National Forest across from our lower entrance.
Hiking/Cross-Country Skiing
In addition to linking to the 400-mile trail system, Fox Creek Falls, from its lower entrance, is only 1.1 miles away from the Appalachian Trail. From our upper community, you can reach the Trail via unmapped foot trails. Hiking in the summer gives way to cross-country skiing in the winter on a north-facing old logging road.
More Fun Minutes Away
Kayak and canoe enthusiasts are just a 15-minute car ride from enjoying a day on the New River. Motorboats are welcome on several lakes within a 30-minute ride. Virginia Creeper Trail - along an abandoned rail bed -- is a mountain-biking wonder. This renowned trail winds from West Jefferson, North Carolina and ends in Abingdon, Virginia. Local segments of the trail are just 20 minutes from your property. Getting to the slopes for winter skiing is convenient, too. A new ski resort is planned 30 minutes down Highway 16 in West Jefferson, NC, and just beyond that is Boone, home to a number of respected runs. Golfers take heart: a number of first-rate courses are just a half-hour's drive away, including layouts in Sparta, NC, and Chilhowie, VA.
